Daum Nancy Fuchsia Vase
This piece is a showstopper, especially with the light coming through. The way the sun shines through the textured ground is fantastic and the gold accents at the bottom push this Art Nouveau piece over the top - in all the best ways!
This Daum Nancy cameo glass vase has a mottled white and purple martele ground. Martele is French for "hammered" - the Corning Museum describes this as "multifaceted, wheel-engraved surface." The texture and color of the ground is beautiful in and of itself, but the delicate and romantic fuchsias in cameo are what make this vase so incredible. The pink and purple flowers are finished with enamel and the gilded border around the base is stunning!
Height: 5" / 12.7cm
Diameter across top: 2.25" / 6.72cm
Diameter across base: 1.625" / 4.13cm
This piece is marked in gold on the base: Daum Nancy with the Cross of Lorraine. It's in good antique condition, with minimal wear to the enamel color and gilding, and it looks like there's some spots with droplets of beige paint as shown in final photos. This color paint has been found on many items in Hester's house. We don't want to attempt to remove it due to how close it is to the gilding, but it is possible.
