Small Plateau Root Bag
The Indigenous peoples of the Northwest Plateau handcrafted this root bag circa 1900. We believe it is composed of twined cedar with reed and has a buckskin handle. It has several very faded stripes.
Approx 6" tall, mouth is 3.5" x 5" (15.25cm x 8.9cm x 12.7cm)
Antique condition with wear, please see photos for detail. The rim of the basket has a small amount of fraying and there is some damage to the rear neat the broken handle.
This item was identified as a c. 1900 Plateau root bag by area expert Arthur Erickson.
