Stephen Huneck (1948-2010) began to focus his art on dogs after his own puppers awakened him from a coma. He had to learn to walk and create again with them by his side. He went on to create a whole dog chapel to celebrate the bond between us and our doggos and allow a space for mourning them, which I would very much like to go visit in Vermont. All his care and tenderness about our canine family members show up in his woodblock prints. I love the bright primary colors in this one with the black lab peeking out between two pairs of feet, boldly labeled Ménage à Trois. Normally you see this image with a golden, so I think this one is rather unique, perhaps created as a special gift.
